The Truth About Music College Admissions

Most programs accept fewer than 10 students per year from hundreds of applicants. Juilliard's acceptance rate? Around 7%. Curtis Institute? Less than 4%.

Your child might be incredibly talented - but so is everyone else auditioning. What separates acceptance from rejection isn't just talent. It's:

  • Choosing the right programs (fit matters more than prestige)

  • Presenting your musicianship authentically (not trying to be someone you're not)

  • Preparing audition repertoire strategically (showcasing strengths, minimizing weaknesses)

  • Writing essays that reveal the artist, not just the achievements

  • Navigating prescreenings, callbacks, and scholarship negotiations expertly

Without expert guidance, even talented students:

→ Apply to the wrong programs and get rejected

→ Choose audition repertoire that doesn't showcase their strengths

→ Miss scholarship opportunities they qualified for

→ Accept offers without negotiating for better financial aid

The stakes are too high to figure this out alone.

This is where I come in.

More about
Ensemble Consulting Co.

Ensemble Consulting Co. was founded in 2025 to meet the following needs:

  • Clear & Structured Guidance For Music Students - While high school Guidance Counselors try their best, 98% of them do not have the know-how to navigate the competitive and overwhelming music auditions process. While they offer valuable insights as far as required GPA, SAT/ACT scores, etc. They do not know who to contact, what procedures to follow and what actually matters in a music students application.

  • Mentorship and Coaching For Music Educators - As someone who has worked in the field of public education as both a high school Orchestra Director and Fine Arts Administrator for 15+ years, I have mentored over 40 music teachers. Struggles with work-life balance, burn-out, lack of support, classroom management, student engagement, problems with administration and getting students to practice are topics that come up time and time again.
If you are struggling with any of these common issues, trust me, you are not alone.

That’s where I come in.
